Our Journey

The Loaded Mule was a labor of love and a project that allowed us to work on together.  Lots of ideas, trials and errors, but completely worth all the time and effort.  We love our Mule!

LM Where We Started_edited.jpg

The Beginning

This little trailer was destined for the scrap yard.  She had come into the shop needing a lot of work to get her road worthy and ready to haul horses.  Instead of investing the funds into this little trailer, the owner made the decision to put her money into a new trailer and not fix this one.  The owner did not want the hassle of trying to find a buyer, so she left it at the shop and told us to scrap it.  We saw that the bones were good and decided to take a chance on her...

The Tear Down

When we say the bones were good, that's about all she had left.  The only items that were not replaced were the floor, ceiling, front metal and frame.  EVERYTHING else on The Mule has been replaced.

LM Welding For The Kegerator_edited.jpg

The Welding

There was some fabrication that needed to be completed.  The front wall needed a space cut in for the kegerator and the side bar/awing was made to open to be able to serve drinks.

The Sanding

Oh sanding...so much sanding!  We wanted to make sure the paint job was as good as it could be and we all know that the work is in preparing for painting.  We sanded and then sandblasted every little corner of this trailer and we are so happy with the results!

The Painting

With the first coat of primer, she finally started to look like a trailer again!  After an additional coat of primer, three coats of paint and three coats of clear, we were tired, but so happy with the results!

Building Back

This was the fun part.  The design and layout of The Mule.  A ton of swatches and back and forth between material suppliers to make sure the color scheme and look was just right!
